Dr. William J. Baier M.D.
Dr. William J. Baier M.D. founded Lockport Pediatrics in 1981. A Western New York native, Dr. Baier completed his medical training at the University of Brussels, Belgium and the autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Prior to his medical training, he graduated from St. John Fisher College, followed by postgraduate studies in Physical Chemistry at the University of Miami.
Dr. Baier then returned to Buffalo, New York to complete his pediatric internship and residency at Women’s and Children’s Hospital. During his final year he served as Chief Pediatric Resident.
In 2007, Dr. Baier was chosen as one of America’s Best Pediatricians.
He and his wife Joan have a daughter Jesse and son-in-law Jason. They are also proud parents of their golden retriever Cooper.
Dr. Melissa N. Sciolino M.D.
Dr. Melissa N. Sciolino M.D. is a board certified pediatrician and Western New York native who completed her undergraduate studies at Canisius College. She was accepted through the Early Assurance program to SUNY at Syracuse College of Medicine. She returned home to complete her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. After completion of her residency in June 2001, she joined Lockport Pediatrics. When she isn’t working, Dr. Sciolino enjoys spending time with her husband Mark and daughters Victoria and Alexandria. She also likes reading, sewing and scrapbooking.
Debora Sippel P.N.P (IBCLC)
Debora Sippel P.N.P. is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who has been with Lockport Pediatrics for more than seventeen years. Debbie is a certified lactation consultant who specializes helping new moms who may be having breast feeding issues. Debbie received both her Bachelor and Masters degrees from the University of New York at Buffalo. Before coming to Lockport Pediatrics, Debbie worked for ten years at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Her time at the hospital was spent working in the infectious disease unit, and her final five years were spent specializing in adolescent medicine. In her spare time she loves spending time with her family, walking the dog, and is an avid runner.
Chelsea Schifferle FNP
Lockport native Chelsea Schifferle is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who joined Lockport Pediatrics in June of 2017. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Daemen College, and worked as a Registered Nurse at Mount St. Mary’s hospital in the cardiac unit and Premier Family Physicians while earning her Family Nurse Practitioner Degree from D’Youville College. As a student, she completed her pediatric internship at Lockport Pediatrics working under the tutelage of Dr. Baier. She has spent many summers supervising children as a certified lifeguard and is a CrossFit enthusiast in her spare time.
Dr. Jeffrey P Herendeen MD
Dr. Jeffrey P. Herendeen is a board eligible pediatrician who joined Lockport Pediatrics in July of 2020. He is a Western New York native who completed his undergraduate degree at the University at Buffalo. He received his medical degree from the University at Buffalo as well, before completing his pediatric residency at Oishei Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Herendeen and his wife Samantha are proud parents of four beautiful children. They also have a dog named Cooper. Dr. Herendeen enjoys sports, being outdoors, and building/fixing electronics.

Jessica Gill, PA
Jessica Gill is a Physician Assistant who joined Lockport Pediatrics in August 2023. Originally from Orchard Park, Jess continued her education in Buffalo. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University at Buffalo. From there she went to Canisius where she earned her masters in physician assistant studies.
In her free time, Jess enjoys reading, hiking, and crafting. Her ultimate goal is to hike the highest peak of every state. She also enjoys being with her cats – Pogo and Wee-Gee.
